i become a little bit like everyone i know

here is an answer i could not explain very well earlier (the rest of you may find it interesting as well):

it was bittersweet, jo, because she was drunk. don't get the wrong idea -- nothing happened, except that she was closer to me than ever before, but she was drunk.

you might say, "but gee, chuck, you two have been all cuddly and stuff, how can you get closer than that and still no you-know-what?" well, i would say, closer is subjective, but it felt closer. i guess it was just that everybody was walking around and talking, and she was actually hugging and, well, being all drape-y. i did mention that she was inebriated, right? drunkards have trouble standing unaided, hence the drapiness.

i guess that's what it boils down to. i'd almost avoid alcohol altogether for this reason alone: people do what they would normally not do when under the influence, and that takes away from the doing.
